{"id":6638,"date":"2023-08-15T08:50:57","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T14:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/?p=6638"},"modified":"2023-08-15T08:51:20","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T14:51:20","slug":"dee-patriquin-named-tws-fellow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/news\/dee-patriquin-named-tws-fellow\/","title":{"rendered":"Dee Patriquin Named TWS Fellow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA &#8212; Dee Patriquin, District Environmental Manager for Flatiron\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/location\/canadian-division\/\">Canada division<\/a>, was selected as a fellow of The Wildlife Society.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife.org\/\">The Wildlife Society<\/a> honours professional excellence, recognizes outstanding achievement and highlights contributions to wildlife science and management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The TWS award recognizes TWS members who have distinguished themselves through exceptional service to the wildlife profession. TWS Fellows serve as ambassadors of the TWS, and as such, are encouraged to engage in outreach and other activities that will benefit and promote TWS and the wildlife profession. They are appointed for life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Patriquin said, \u201cBeing selected as a TWS Fellow is an incredible honour. Many of the mentors that encouraged and supported me though my career are TWS Fellows; so it is a real privilege to be included among this group.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Patriquin has been a member of the professional society since 1990; the organization aims to \u201cinspire, empower and enable wildlife professionals to sustain wildlife populations and habitats through science-based management and conservation.\u201d Her work focuses on environmental management and policy, with projects ranging from designing parks and protected area management policy to environmental management systems for the design and construction of large civil infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Patriquin also has contributed to TWS as the president of the Alberta Chapter and the Canadian Section. The connection with a broad community of wildlife professionals in TWS and through her role as an adjunct professor at the University of Alberta, facilitate an innovative approach to her projects.
