This certification recognizes Flatiron\u2019s commitment to sustainable construction practices on infrastructure projects across North America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAchieving environmental sustainability is not a task to complete. It is a way of life \u2013 and the right thing to do,\u201d said Dale Nelson, Flatiron executive vice president for Operations. \u201cEach day our project leaders take action to protect the environment through advance planning and by preventing or mitigating 22bet casino reviewadverse impacts of construction projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cISO certification is an important acknowledgement of procedures we have in place,\u201d he added. \u201cHowever, achieving intended outcomes over the long term requires diligence and unwavering commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">ISO 14001 is an internationally-recognized standard that specifies requirements for an organization to enhance environmental performance and to contribute to sustainability by managing environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Certification encompassed Flatiron\u2019s sustainability commitments as well as the framework to protect the environment and respond to changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-economic needs.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><b>Examples of Flatiron Sustainable Practices<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><strong>N.C. 12 Rodanthe Bridge on the Outer Banks of North Carolina<\/strong> \u2013 This 2.4-mile-long bridge opened to traffic in July 2022. The environmental habitat surrounding the bridge is composed of submerged aquatic vegetation, a type of rooted aquatic plant that grows entirely under water. Protecting this vegetation and its habitat posed a challenge that the project team was able to overcome through careful planning, teamwork and collaboration with professional environmental agencies.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><strong>The new Terminal 1 project at San Diego International Airport<\/strong> \u2013 The project team is implementing industry-leading commitments to sustainability through energy and water conservation as well as clean-air, biodiversity and zero-waste initiatives. Due to shallow water depths \u2013 less than four-feet at the location of the bridge \u2013 the use of industry-standard methods of construction, such as barges, was not possible. To protect the existing ecosystem, the project team developed an industry-leading innovation called the Advancing Rail System \u2013 creating an assembly line of sorts, supporting all construction of the permanent bridge structure plus the ability to \u201cleap frog\u201d temporary work sections of the bridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The unique environmental habitat surrounding the bridge is composed of submerged aquatic vegetation, a type of rooted aquatic plant that grows entirely under water. Protecting this vegetation and its habitat posed a unique challenge that the project 22bet  reviewteam was able to overcome through careful planning, teamwork and collaboration with professional environmental agencies.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Originally, the project team was permitted to disturb up to 10 acres of the area occupied by the submerged aquatic vegetation. In the end, the team only disturbed one acre out of the allotted 10, reducing the impact by 90 percent. The project team is implementing industry-leading 22bet casino reviewcommitments to sustainability through 22bet sports betting appenergy and water conservation as well as clean-air, biodiversity and zero-waste initiatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">So far, the project has achieved greater than 80% diversion rate \u2013 waste diverted from landfills.
