{"id":6334,"date":"2022-07-15T12:53:46","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T18:53:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/?p=6334"},"modified":"2022-12-13T14:04:42","modified_gmt":"2022-12-13T21:04:42","slug":"flatirons-washington-district-hosts-second-annual-equipment-rodeo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/news\/flatirons-washington-district-hosts-second-annual-equipment-rodeo\/","title":{"rendered":"Flatiron&#8217;s Washington District Hosts Second Annual Equipment Rodeo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]July 15, 2022, was a day of exploration,\u202fnetworking, skill-building and reflection for Flatiron\u2019s Washington District office-based employees.<\/p>\n<p>More than 25 contestants from Flatiron and joint venture partners Lane Construction competed in an \u201cEquipment Rodeo\u201d at the I-405 Renton to Bellevue project yard in Renton, Washington. Contestants included project engineers, project accountants, environmental specialists and interns.\u202fTeam performance was judged by safety specialists and those who have firsthand experience with operating equipment \u2014 foremen and superintendents.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s operations team set up four courses for the Equipment Rodeo \u2014 Excavator Bump and Run, Forklift Jitters, Wild Skid Steer Relay and Shoring Trivia. Safety briefings and equipment training were given.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For many office workers, this was the first time they operated construction equipment. It was a great opportunity to learn new skills and gain greater appreciation for their colleagues in the field.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each team was scored based on the time it took to complete each course, number of obstacles hit and (of course) style. The top four teams took home prizes and bragging rights.
