Flatiron has started work for LA Metro on the Rosecrans-Marquardt Grade Separation Project. The new $48 million bridge project in southeast Los Angeles County will bring traffic over existing BNSF Railway tracks, replacing the current “at grade crossing.” As a result, local traffic will no longer cross rail tracks. The project is part of a greater LA Metro program to improve traffic movement in the area.

“Grade separations are critical in enhancing railroad, vehicle and pedestrian safety. Plus this improvement will mitigate traffic congestion,” said Flatiron Vice President & District Manager Ural Yal. “Flatiron is proud to partner with LA Metro on this important project and provide much-anticipated safety improvements to the community as quickly as possible.”

To expedite construction, Flatiron will construct the entire bridge offsite using precast girders and deck panels. Once complete, the bridge will be set into place. Building the bridge offsite will result in less congestion and a reduction in pollution related to project vehicles in the work area.

Flatiron expects to complete the project in late 2024.
