Flatiron is pleased to announce its joint venture with Drill Tech has received notice to proceed from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for preconstruction services on its Ventura County slope restoration project estimated at $53 million. The work area is located along California\u2019s famed Highway 1, inside the Point Mugu State Park, 15 miles north of Malibu.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to collaborate with Caltrans District 7 in its first project delivered through the construction manager\/ general contractor method,\u201d said Flatiron Vice President and District Manager Ural Yal. \u201cOur preconstruction team is looking forward to providing value to Caltrans by improving constructability and meeting Caltrans\u2019 schedule and budget goals, while respecting the pristine environment where the project is located.\u201d<\/p>\n
Project Manager Hunter Bodycott agrees the environment is a top priority while repairing the coastline that has been damaged by past storms and improving its resiliency in the face of projected sea level rise. \u201cThe project\u2019s proximity to the ocean and its location within the limits of a state park require a proactive approach to environmental compliance,\u201d said Bodycott.<\/p>\n
Preconstruction is currently underway and scheduled to last until late 2021. The project is anticipated to finish in mid-2023.<\/p>\n
