{"id":5536,"date":"2020-06-28T12:25:20","date_gmt":"2020-06-28T18:25:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/?p=5536"},"modified":"2020-09-09T14:58:31","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T20:58:31","slug":"essential-since-1947-the-larimer-county-on-call-bridges-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/news\/essential-since-1947-the-larimer-county-on-call-bridges-project\/","title":{"rendered":"The Larimer County On-Call Bridges Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/vimeo.com\/433386819&#8243;][vc_column_text]<em>Field Engineer Caitlin Kaltenbaugh on her work at Flatiron\u2019s Larimer County, CO project<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Tucked away amid small wooden homes the foothills of Northern Colorado, a small but dedicated Flatiron team is hard at work making Larimer County\u2019s bridges safer for travelers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI like being in the mountains,\u201d Foreman David King tells me with a smile. &#8220;On the hot days we&#8217;re under a bridge where it&#8217;s cool.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">King and his team of four workers spend plenty of time in the shade from the bridges. Flatiron is currently working on identifying weakened concrete on six piers, and getting it replaced. Some of the county\u2019s bridges are more than 60 years old, and need reinforcement. After work is done on these bridges later in the summer, Flatiron will go to the county\u2019s engineers and say: \u201cWhat\u2019s next?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Flatiron\u2019s contract with Larimer County renews yearly. County officials this year will spend up to $2 million, unless there\u2019s a change order calling for additional work. The contract can be renewed up to four more times. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Central Division won the job after showing the county just how adept Flatiron employees are at bridge repair work.
