(FLATIRON), one of the largest infrastructure contractors in North America, and its joint venture partner, Blythe Development, completed and opened the Eastern phase of the <a href=\"https:\/\/protect-us.mimecast.com\/s\/zNl1BJf57kvOiw?domain=ncoits.pr-optout.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greensboro Urban Loop<\/a> a full year ahead of schedule. The Eastern Loop officially opened to traffic at 8 p.m. on December 6, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Flatiron-Blythe team built the four-lane highway which included, completing the U.S. 70 interchange and two new interchanges connecting the Greensboro Loop to Huffine Mill Road and U.S. 29. \u201cThe opening of this portion of the highway will increase capacity ultimately saving travelers time and bettering their lives,\u201d said Division Seven Construction Staff Engineer, Brian Smith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe congratulate all of the crews that worked tirelessly on this project,\u201d said Daniel Lieberman, Flatiron\u2019s Southeast Vice President and Operations Manager. \u201cBecause of their dedication, and support from the NCDOT, this project is opening a full year ahead of schedule.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now the teams focus shifts to the next phase of the project \u2014 the remaining Rt. 29 interchange. Weather permitting, this phase is anticipated to be completed by December 28, 2018.
