{"id":4602,"date":"2016-05-12T18:00:39","date_gmt":"2016-05-12T18:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flatironcon.wpengine.com\/?p=4602"},"modified":"2016-08-26T22:06:28","modified_gmt":"2016-08-26T22:06:28","slug":"tower-road-construction-breaks-ground-commerce-city-colorado","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/news\/tower-road-construction-breaks-ground-commerce-city-colorado\/","title":{"rendered":"Tower Road Construction Breaks Ground in Commerce City, Colorado"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Broomfield, Colorado (May 11, 2016) <\/strong>&#8211; Work on Tower Road officially &#8220;took off&#8221; on Tuesday, May 10, as project team members and elected officials celebrated the groundbreaking of the widening project.<\/p>\n<p>Dignitaries and team members signified the groundbreaking with stomp rockets, which soared into the blue sky as a front loader made the first dig for the project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today&#8217;s groundbreaking is not only a celebration of long-planned improvements to Tower Road,&#8221; Mayor Pro Tem Ren\u00e9 Bullock told the gathered group of residents and officials. &#8220;It&#8217;s a celebration of a major road project under construction in the $137 million capital improvement program approved by voters in 2013.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The project, which is expected to be completed in late 2017, will add another lane in each direction along Tower Road between E. 80<sup>th<\/sup> and E. 103<sup>rd<\/sup> avenues, improving the operation of this busy arterial roadway. In addition, bike lanes, sidewalk and multi-use path will be constructed to provide pedestrians and cyclists a safer commute.<\/p>\n<p>Other improvements to the area include acceleration, deceleration and turn lanes; street lighting; traffic signals at 81st, 88th and 96th avenues; a raised and landscaped median; and moving the overhead electric lines underground.
