The $50 million project features a new 252-meter (826-foot) bridge with a wider, five-span deck and improved approaches that better accommodate the high volume of heavy-haul traffic that uses this route. Highway 22 has an annual average daily traffic rate of more than 7,000 vehicles a day, over 20 percent of which is truck traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Between<a href=\"http:\/\/flatironcon.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Drayton-Valley-Photos-1_edit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1422 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/flatironcon.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Drayton-Valley-Photos-1_edit-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Drayton Valley Photos (1)_edit\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Drayton-Valley-Photos-1_edit-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Drayton-Valley-Photos-1_edit-350x350.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.flatironcorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Drayton-Valley-Photos-1_edit-125x125.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a> river flooding and a large embankment slide, the project has had a few hurdles to overcome, but the project has seen strong community support and interest, which is helping Flatiron to stay safe and on-time.<\/p>\n<p>Completion is expected in February 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Flatiron is replacing the Drayton Valley Bridge over the North Saskatchewan River and improving 8.5 kilometers of Highway 22.
