\"Orangethorpe<\/a>Anaheim, Calif. –\u00a0<\/strong>Flatiron crews are hard at work improving traffic for commuters in Anaheim and Placentia. The $45 million project for the Orange County Transit Authority entails elevating a four-lane city street above the BNSF railroad by placing 300,000 cubic yards of fill and building multiple retaining walls. The project is expected to greatly improve traffic conditions for commuters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are multiple railroad street crossings throughout the city and this street, so when a train comes through\u2014which is often\u2014 traffic comes to a halt,\u201d advises project manager Lenny Gardino. Workers began the project\u2014one of seven sister projects in the larger Orange County Bridges program\u2014in July with underground and demolition work before turning their attention to switching traffic to a temporary bypass road, allowing for construction of a major bridge.
