Flatiron Construction’s general counsel and Bridges to Prosperity Board member Melody Pickett and her family traveled to Rwanda with HOCHTIEF<\/a> to build Bridges to Prosperity\u2019s <\/a>100th footbridge. Melody\u2019s 22bet casino reviewDaughter Jamie shared this reflection.<\/p>\n In July, the members of the board of Bridges to Prosperity including Flatiron\u2019s Elie Homsi<\/a>, Melody Pickett<\/a> and their families traveled to Rwanda for the opening of Bridges to Prosperity\u2019s 100th bridge. The 95-meter Mayange Nyamabare <\/a>suspension bridge in the Gatsibo District of northern Rwanda<\/a> is also the first B2P bridge built by HOCHTIEF employees.<\/p>\n The nearest crossings are 20 kilometers in one direction and 10 kilometers in the other. This bridge will serve as many as 12,000 people and up to 600 people are expected to use it each day. The bridge will cut as many as 12 miles off the route taken by villagers to access schools, medical facilities and markets for selling crops.<\/p>\n The inaugural crossing of the bridge was one of the most memorable moments 22bet sports betting appof the trip. A crowd of more than 500 villagers, local dignitaries including the mayor of Gatsibo, a four-star general from the army and local media attended the celebration. As they crossed the bridge for the first time, villagers began to clap and sing, growing louder and louder and finally\u00a0 cheering and dancing as they arrived safely on the opposite side.<\/p>\n The 10-person HOCHTIEF crew will be the first of many volunteer teams. HOCHTIEF\u2019s Bert Hoekstra, corporate sponsor of Bridges to Prosperity, announced during the bridge\u2019s opening celebration that the company would sponsor additional bridges and employee volunteer teams in the future. This commitment received thunderous applause and cheers from the local villagers.<\/p>\n
