The Route 101 Santa Maria River Bridge project involves the widening\u00a0and retrofit of two existing 29-span bridges crossing the Santa Maria River at the San Luis Obispo\/Santa Barbara County line several hours north of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>The project creates a third travel lane in each direction in addition to a bike lane along the southbound span and\u00a0widening the shoulders from two feet to 10.
